About me

I am Janet Firth and I am Vuntut Gwitch’in First Nation. My grandfather Johnny Kyikavikchik (Kay) moved from Old Crow, Y.T. to Fort McPherson, N.T. in the 1920’s. My grandfather Johnny Kyikavikchik (Kay) was chief at this time and signed the Treaty 11 in 1921. I am from Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories a small town of eight hundred people. I decided to further my career in Teacher Education because I noticed there was a need in my community. I wish to further my education with the help of my Indigenous Instructors and help our Indigenous People.
